Exhibitor info:
Installation:
SUPERMARKET is organised by SKF Umbrella *) in collaboration with a network of artist-run organisations in Stockholm. In 2006, the artist-run organisations in Stockholm arranged MINIMARKET, a small-scale art fair that was a spontaneous reaction to Market, the new art fair in Stockholm. It was at this point that the idea of a larger manifestation was born. *) SKF Umbrella is a sub organisation of SKF – Svenska Konstnärernas Förening (The Swedish Artists’ Association). Svenska Konstnärernas Förening is an interest group for professional artists founded in 1890 and includes 800 members. Their main undertaking is to manage the exhibition activities and to administer Konstnärshuset which is owned jointly by SKF and Konstnärsklubben (The Artists Club). Konstnärshuset was built in 1899. The architect Ludvig Peterson was clearly inspired by Moorish and Venetian architecture. Sales Opportunities: The art market in Sweden is in a favourable stage of development. The sales of contemporary art have increased considerably in the past few years, and the prices vary dramatically. In order to offer the general public a broader range of art, SUPERMARKET will take place concurrently with Market. Market is a commercial gallery art fair taking place in the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, situated within walking distance from Konstnärshuset. A feature that is unique to the Swedish art scene is the broad general interest in art, existing in the form of numerous art associations (konstföreningar) within companies. This is one of several target groups that SUPERMARKET caters to. Press: The media showed a substantial interest in the 2006 MINIMARKET experiment. We will regularly update the press with information regarding SUPERMARKET, and press correspondence will be in both English and Swedish. The press viewing will take place parallel to that of Market, thus ensuring that both art fairs receive simultaneous press coverage. Seminars: As SUPERMARKET builds upon the notion of “artist-run initiatives“, we feel it is vital to discuss financial and organisational issues on this stage. Several international guests, both artists as well as theorists, will illuminate these issues from various angles.. Catalogue: For SUPERMARKET, a 96 page, 4 colour catalogue will be published (Format: 20 cm x 20 cm, printed on the inside on 130 gsm paper, and on the outside on 240 gsm paper, with adhesive binding). The catalogue will offer information regarding the exhibitions at SUPERMARKET, and the participants’ backgrounds, as well as their postal addresses, phone numbers, email addresses etc. Website: All the information and full documentation on the website will be published in both English and Swedish. Café/Bar/Restaurant: The restaurant in the venerable locales of Konstnärsklubben (The Artists Club) will be open and offer light meals. Exhibitor service: For information concerning travel routes and assistance regarding hotel or youth hostel booking, please visit our website. The building is equipped with AirPort allowing for a direct internet connection on your own PC. Cost of participation: The cost of participation amounts to a total of 3000 SEK (~333 Euro), and includes one exhibition space, service personnel, and advertising, as well as the PR and the publication of the catalogue. The exhibitor will receive 10 copies of the catalogue and will be able to buy additional copies at cost price. A 1000 SEK (~111 Euro) registration fee will be invoiced upon registration. The remaining 2000 SEK (~222 Euro) must be paid two days prior to the opening. Catalogue material: Participants must contribute a written text (in English) of 80-200 words describing their organisation; its history, structure, purpose, and distinguishing features. If possible, it would be preferable if a description of the works to be shown at SUPERMARKET could be included. The text may be pasted directly into the email together with information including your visiting address, postal address, website, email, telephone, and fax, as well as a list of members/partners. The space assigned to the images is about 165X165 mm and can include 1–16 pictures. Attach the images to the email in jpg-format of a maximum size of 165X165 mm (RGB, highest quality, resolution 300 ppi).
